From all over the country, many visitors come to Barneveld every year. And with good reason. With over 125 shops, the city centre has something for everyone. From big brands with household names to local entrepreneurs with a surprising range. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to visit one of the cosy catering establishments. But also in other areas, there is plenty to experience in and around Barneveld!
Barneveld is of course known as the epicentre of poultry farming, the chicken and the egg. You can learn everything about its existence as a ‘Chicken Village’ in the Poultry Museum (English website). In addition to the comical Barnevelder chicken, our village has another local hero: Jan van Schaffelaar. His heroic leap from the Grote Kerk in the 15th century gave this Cod leader national fame. Still to this day, Jan van Schaffelaar still lives on in Barneveld. Learn all about Jan and the (archaeological) history of Barneveld in Museum Nairac. Culture also plays a major role. The Schaffelaartheater offers an interesting programme every season. The music school opens its doors for many performances and there is room for various events, conferences and markets in the Midden Nederland Hallen. Prefer to explore Barneveld in an active way? From the beautiful Schaffelaarse Bos to the particularly beautiful nature reserve Het Paradijs; with the region’s routes you are sure to have a good time!
Besides the regular activities, there are (almost) weekly fun events in Barneveld. From the famous Oud Veluwse Markt to Het Balloon Fiesta and Candlelight Shopping. View all events in our calendar.
In short: Barneveld has everything you need for a day out!
