Zwartebroek emerged in the 12th century as a result of peat reclamation. Still to this day, this genesis is reflected in the unique road pattern, as the village has dead-straight roads and streets. The surrounding area of Zwartebroek is also well worth a visit. The outskirts consist of a cultural landscape with lots of water, hedgerows and the Elzenbroekbos. Enjoy peaceful walks and cycling through the meadows, fields and forests!
